All members of Covenant Baptist Church have agreed to covenant together, through God’s power, to love God and one another according to the Scriptures. The essence of our commitment to love, encourage, and guard one another according to the gospel of Jesus Christ to the glory of God is summarized in the following covenantal statement:
Having been brought, by God’s grace, to repent and believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ, and having been baptized upon our profession of faith in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we now joyfully renew our covenant with one another.
We will eagerly work and pray for the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
We will walk together in brotherly love, exercise an affectionate care and watchfulness over each other, and graciously admonish and encourage one another according to God’s Word at appropriate times.
We will gather together regularly and pray for ourselves and others, as required by God in his Word.
We will work together to bring up those who are under our care in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
We will, by a pure and loving example, seek the salvation of our family and friends.
We will rejoice at one another’s happiness and aspire to bear one another’s burdens and sorrows with tenderness and compassion.
We will, by God’s grace, put to death our sinful desires and live carefully in the world, remembering that since we have been united with Christ in his death and resurrection, we are now called to lead new and holy lives.
We will work together for the continuation of a faithful gospel-ministry in this church as we uphold its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrine.
We will, by faith, contribute cheerfully and regularly toward the ministry and expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel to all nations.
We will, upon moving from this place, quickly unite with another gospel-preaching church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen.
